Day 5: Spiritual Observation Towers

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” (Psalm 1:1-3)

Constant observation assures intimacy with your subject. The more you look, the more you will see. Real science is based on this principle. Astronomy, for example, uses telescopes in observation towers to view the vastness of the skies. Biology uses microscopes to observe the intricacies of complex mini systems that make up organisms. We learn more by observation, and we can do more. Meditation, the act of rolling a thought over and over in your mind, is, in effect, spiritual observation. It allows you and me to observe the truth of God from different points of view, helping us to grasp it more profoundly and latch on to it more firmly. Our contemplation of God’s word is our first step towards fruitful living.

Make the psalmists prayer your own: “Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live and observe thy word. Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” (Psalm 119:17-18).

Consider: Joshua 1:7-8; I Timothy 4:15

It's good to fix our gaze on the Eternal. It's an eternal gaze; the wonder will never cease.

Prayer was inspiring this morning. We prayed for a fresh anointing. We sought (and are seeking) a time of refreshing (Acts 3:19) and God didn't disappoint us at all.

The Lord called us to intensive labor in prayer. He spoke to us and encouraged us to "return to our post", to rejoin our team. It is a powerful exhortation. The Lord also challenged us to do our part and not try to get by on someone else's "coat-tails".
An image that struck me personally is that of the butterfly as it breaks forth from the cocoon through much "labor pain". It labors for the freedom of new life. We labor in intercession for the new day-the new song, the things God has in mind for us.
Blessings

You can't really know someone until you spend time with them. Assuming you know someone and what their all about can lead to misunderstanding and false conceptions of them. The more I spend time with God the more my relationship grows which draws me back for more of Him. It is a pleasant experience. Psalms 104:34 sums it up... "My meditation of Him shall be sweet. I will be glad in the Lord."

As I was spending time in my devotions today I was given this scripture "Jesus said unto him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Phillip?" (John 14:9).

This was found in The Utmost for His Highest. When I read on I had another question to ponder We receive His blessings and know His Word, but do we really know Him? I like what you said Barb a fresh anointing, if anyone has grown cold or your questioning if you really know Him,just surrender He will show you who He Is not who you have made Him to be.

Nothing causes me to cry out as passionately to God like the prodigals. The other night God had given me an opportunity to speak in to a loved one's life. After witnessing some very disturbing and hopeless comments, I cried out to God on his behalf, and God had given me the opportunity to speak words of hope into his life. The very next morning he was quoting scripture!!! Thank, you Lord!!!

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I pray that God would continue to speak to our hearts as well as prepare the hearts of those around us and give us opportunities share His love.

There are so many times that I have missed opportunities due to fears, ect... What if they don't listen? What if I they think I'm crazy? What if I push them further away? What if..what if...what if???

The new question on my mind is:
What if this is my LAST opportunity to speak into this person's life???

I pray that we would continue to be sensitive to the Spirit of God and that when He says "go" that we would "go".

This song has been on my heart that last couple of days:

I was also encouraged by David Wilkerson's post today about a Great Awakening:

I'll be honest. The toughest part is often that word Meditation. Those scriptures compel us to seek him day and night. Day and Night. That's not measuring things in minutes or seconds. But hours and days.

We have been condition to have short attention spans by the media we consume and so when it's time to go to an hour and half prayer meeting, we think, "what am I going to do for an hour and a half."

And in those prayer meetings, often we fall into normal routines of praying the same things and waiting for God to something like walk through the door. How can that possibly keep our attention?

The answer is what was so rich about this mornings prayer meeting to me. Fresh anointing. This morning the song on my heart - the song that I sang over and over to the Lord - was... "Lead us to those deeper wells."

So often we taste of something and then simply settle thinking, "this is all God has for me." But He's saying, "No. Go further. That's only the beginning. Find the place where you can drink deeper of Me."

And that's the place where the "same old words" like "You are Holy" and "Lord you're beautiful" find new meaning. They become our new song. We're not suddenly going to have new words to describe God. But we can continually find new meanings and depths to the words we already have.
